So you need to organize a Teen Party! Having to organize and think up an original Teen party often causes a great deal of head scratching. Well don't panic.
Putting together a teen party is not as hard as you might think. You were a teenager once, and you know your kids. What better place to start that with your own kids. Seek the advice of your teen, other family members, friends and above all, from other teenagers themselves.
Hers are some basic ideas you will want to remember when planning and organizing your Teen Birthday Party:
- Don't make it a surprise party unless you know that your teenager will not feel intimidated by it – teenagers like to be involved for fear that if the parents do something embarrassing and spoils their image.
- Center the teen birthday party around food! Boys especially, eat a tremendous amount at this age.
- Let your teenager make the '4-W' decisions: What, Where, When, Whom. However, you should set guidelines and budgets relevant to your family situation.
- Teenagers are often embarrassed by their parents and their funny, old-fashioned ways and sometimes even more so if you try to be like one of them. So, keep your distance at the teen party but don't leave entirely unless you want to run the risk of your house resembling a riot area.
- Relax the rules so that the day feels special. So what about the loud head banging music (hope you have understanding neighbors!), and that the word 'sleep' has been disinvested. Make it a teen party to remember.
