• Teenagers are often embarrassed by their parents and their funny, old-fashioned ways and sometimes even more so if you try to be like one of them. So, keep your distance at the teen party but don't leave entirely unless you want to run the risk of your house resembling a riot area.

• Relax the rules so that the day feels special. So what about the loud head banging music (hope you have understanding neighbors!), and that the word 'sleep' has been disinvested. Make it a teen party to remember.
